PV SOLAR CARGO PROJECTS
Solar Green Group have identified that Lukoma Aerodrome, Uganda near the Tanzanian
border will be an ideal project for new build Solar Cargo Air Terminal and Solar Logistics building. Upgrading the existing 3,000 meters runway x 45 meters, constructed by the Israelis and Indians
between 1969-1972, before their expulsion. To have an experienced management company appointed to bring the airport up to full International standards and make it operational. The runway was only gazetted by Civil Aviation Authority in 2000. (click here to see map)
The runway is in excellent condition per the 2000 CAA report. The project qualifies for Renewable
Energy Funding from the EU and the Commonwealth dependant on a feasibility study report including an aerial survey to confirm repayment of loans. The runway was used by the Tanzanians to overthrow Idi Amin. (Click here to view photos of runway).
SGT will transfer the concept and appoint local architects etc. to carry out the feasibility study report and make submissions to the funders.
This is a major project of national importance to Uganda, increasing agriculture production, increasing exports, creating employment, reducing CO2 pollution and the well being of the people
are some of the positive benefits from this project.
We are working with the Ugandan Government with regards a lease concession for the 18.92 sq. miles of land;
It is important for the Ugandan Government to take heavy lorries off the roads reducing CO2 pollution,
cutting acute congestion off the roads especially the dangerous stretch from Masaka to Kampala
and most importantly the well being of the Ugandan people. (click here to view photo of lorries mixing with people).
Lorries laden with fish drive from Bukoba, Tanzania via the proposed cargo airport to Entebbe Airport. Lorries Produce is driven to Nairobi Airport to save 40 cents a kilo on the freight rate compared with Entebbe Airport
and sometimes travel to Mombasa port.
These lorries make the roads dangerous all day they clog up the road infrastructure which deflects tourism and direct cost to transport companies’, salaries and the expense of fuel. 95% of the good matoke is grown in Rakai District. Everybody living in the area of the Lukoma Airport wants the airport to become functional to create employment and agriculture. The development of agricultural in Uganda is a major topic “Food Security”.
The proposed Solar Cargo Airport would encourage Lake Victoria to be used for transportation of all types of goods.
Entebbe Airport has a problem on the cost of cold storage, they use 24 hours 7 days a week diesel generators which is very costly. The Lukoma project is a Renewable Energy project and would work very closely with Entebbe Airport.
